Overview

The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing all federal, state, and international tax activities within the organization, reporting to the Tax Director. This includes managing tax reporting, planning, and compliance functions. The Tax Manager will ensure the completion of tax returns in order to minimize the organization's tax obligations. They will also oversee compliance and audits related to federal, state, and local income tax, sales and use tax, and property tax. Additionally, the Tax Manager will lead and manage a team of Tax Analysts and Tax Accountants, with responsibilities including hiring, firing, conducting performance appraisals, and conducting pay reviews.

Responsibilities
    Ensures timely and accurate filing of U.S. federal, state, local as well as Canadian income tax returns, including serving as the primary contact for revenue agents assigned to audit income tax returns.
  • Develops and implements systems to compile information for various federal, state, and local reports.
  • Manages corporate FSC tax procedures, reporting and issues.
  • Assists with the administration of international tax laws and regulations.
  • Coordinates and provides assistance with expatriate tax preparation.
  • Reviews quarterly income tax provisions and annual tax returns for accuracy.
  • Recommends ways to minimize corporate tax through use of tax laws and regulations.
  • Maintains tax compliance and manages relationship with external tax advisor.
  • Assesses tax implications surrounding pending mergers and acquisitions.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. Certified Public Accountant required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of wide-ranging public accounting experience with an emphasis in multi-state and international tax with a responsibility for results, including costs and methods.
  • Demonstrated ability of working on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
  • Demonstrated experience in determining the best use of resources to meet goals of assignments received in the form of objectives.
  • Able to lead cooperative efforts among members of project teams.
  • Able to follow processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Able to develop and administers schedules, and establish performance requirements
  • Experience with preparing and adhering to a budget
  • Able to provide guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies.
  • Experience with advising subordinates how to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
  • Responsible for the hiring, firing, and performance review of staff.
  • Through understanding of financial software functionality, particularly as it integrates with manufacturing. SAP knowledge desirable, but not required.
