Senior Automation Controls Engineer
This position will support and identify upgrades and deficiencies for all existing automation that resides on the production floor.  Additionally, this position will identify, research, and analyze new automation opportunities that will enhance and advance the capabilities of the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supports manufacturing and processing equipment design including mechanical, electrical and control systems.
  • Provides control software, hardware, programming, and troubleshooting support.
  • Provides technical support for other manufacturing and maintenance departments as directed by the engineering manager.
  • Design and implement changes to automated equipment to improve overall operational effectiveness.
  • Considers safety in design, work practices, and plant operations.
  • Develops project timelines to achieve targeted business goals.
  • Mentor and support the development of the technicians to troubleshoot and maintenance the production equipment.
  • Support problem solving teams to find root cause.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical for designing electrical controls.
  • Knowledge of UL and NFPA codes and standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer/Control Engineering is desired. Will consider highly skilled technician with extensive training and experience in PLC automation controls. A minimum of 10 years Electrical Design & Automation Engineering experience is preferred.
  • A successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a “hands on approach”.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Have a good understanding of mechanical and electrical components such as valves, pumps, relays, controller, PLC, motors, starters, pilot valves, piping, hose, and fittings. Be able to understand the importance of each component within a processing system.
  • Direct experience with Allen-Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming, FactoryTalk SE/ME (HMI), Servo drives, and supporting software is required
  • Solid understanding of computers, networking and communication protocols used with industrial controllers
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests.
  • CAD/electrical design experience
  • Strong electrical aptitude preferred
  • Motion Control, Vision, Industrial Networking preferred
  • Experience with Fanuc robots and Kepware software preferred
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
  • This position could progress to a Leadership Role
  • Wage range $110-130,000+/yr Direct Hire position
